Set in beautiful Cheshire countryside adjacent to Cholmondeley Castle, the Cholmondeley Arms is probably one of England’s most unique pubs. It sits inside a former Victorian village schoolhouse on Lord Cholmondeley’s estate. Dating back to 1862 the school was converted in 1988 and it was the first public house on the estate for over a century!

The old schoolhouse was originally converted into a village pub by Julian and Ginny Harrison and Guy and Carolyn Ross-Lowe. The pub still maintains many of its original features and creates a charming and characterful place to visit.

The Finest Gardens In The North

The romantic gothic castle - a product of the early 19th century - stands on a high rise above a lake. The castle is surrounded by sweeping lawns and a variety of mature trees, including Cedars of Lebanon, Oak, and Chestnut. The gardens surrounding the castle provide a lovely mix of colour and height, with intriguing walks around the lake. There is a Temple Water Garden, Rose Garden, a variety of mixed borders. Plantings are planned to provide colour at all times of the year.

The Ice Cream Farm is a family friendly tourist attraction bursting with all of the fun you need for a great day out in Cheshire. Cheshire’s Sandstone Trail is one of the finest and most popular long distance walks in North West England, in the UK. For many, it’s probably the best Cheshire walk and the ultimate Cheshire Way.

The Sandstone Trail stretches for 34 miles/55 kilometres and offers superb, unbroken, and often elevated walking across the still largely green and pleasant English county of Cheshire — from the ancient market town of Frodsham on the broad Mersey estuary, in the north, to Georgian Whitchurch in rural north Shropshire, in the south.
